Meaning & Story
Sunstone sparkles from within — tiny copper or hematite platelets catch light like suspended sunlight. Viking lore speaks of a "sun stone" used to find the sun on overcast voyages, and the name stuck to this glittering feldspar. It is traditionally believed to encourage optimism and openness, and traditionally associated with leadership warm enough not to burn.
Zodiac & Chakra
Traditionally paired with Leo and Libra; in folklore it corresponds to the sacral chakra — the home of joy and creative appetite.
Care
A medium-hard stone: keep it from scratching against quartz or harder beads. Rinse briefly in lukewarm water, dry well, and let it out of direct summer sun for long storage to keep its color rich.
